Distinctive Unit Insignia
A device of silver color metal and enamel 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of two black heraldic bears in rampant position facing to center on either side of a yellow bell suspended below the center arm of a red Greek cross all on a silver background and enclosed by a silver scroll bearing around the sides and top, three folds, the words "SERVING FREEDOMS GUARDS" in maroon with the scroll ends turned inward at base with maroon on the reverse side and supporting the standing bears.
Maroon and white are the colors used for the Army Medical Department; the cross is symbolic of medical aid. The black bears refer to the Arms of Berlin, Germany, where the Activity is located, and the bell represents the "Freedom Bell" located in the tower of Schneberg Town Hall; altogether the cross and the bell between the two bears symbolize the words of the unit's motto "Serving Freedoms Guards."
